Beyond growth/degrowth
‘EUROPE BEYOND GROWTH?’ From material excess to human flourishing
Tim Jackson speaks at London panel debate, 19 December 2012
UK-based think-tank Green House in collaboration with the Green European Journal hosted a discussion on the role of 'growth' in developing a sustainable, equitable economy. Rather than reduce it to a 'growth v degrowth' argument, the panel questioned how we can bring about prosperity in a way that doesn't excessively focus on economic expansion.
Held in Europe House, Westminster, on 19th December 2012, the meeting attracted a lively audience to listen to panel presentations and discussions from experienced speakers, including:
- Molly Scott Cato: Roehampton University
- Tim Jackson: Author of "Prosperity without growth"
- Hermann Ott: Green member of the German Parliament, member of the German Parliament's Committee on Growth, Wellbeing and Quality of Life
- Aurélie Maréchal: Author of "No growth? In search of another path for Europe"
Victor Anderson: Anglia Ruskin University
The discussions were moderated by Jean Lambert MEP and Rupert Reed, Green House
